Starz’s newest series, Mary & George, is based on the true story of Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham (played by Julianne Moore), who is struggling financially after the passing of her husband. In order to help herself and her family, Mary formulates a plan to make her son, George (Nicholas Galitzine), become King James I’s lover, thus making him the second most powerful man in England.
Per Starz, “Mary & George is a dangerously daring historical psychodrama about an outrageous mother and son who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the court of England and the bed of King James I.”
Galzitine was inspired to work with a legend such as Moore. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “I knew she’d be incredibly focused, but her lightness on set really surprised me. Some people like to stay in a heavy headspace when doing dramatic work but, Julie likes to create a levity so that she can save her energy for the takes.”

When do episodes of Mary & George come out?
In other parts of the world, Mary & George has already been out for a month now, with a March 5 release date. For the U.S. however, the historical drama will debuts on Friday, April 5, exclusively on Starz. New episodes will come out every Friday until the season finale.
