Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are taking the next big step in their relationship. After nearly five years of dating, Shelton proposed to Stefani in Oklahoma this weekend, People reports. The couple confirmed the news on their Instagrams this afternoon.
“@blakeshelton yes please! 💍🙏🏻 gx,” Stefani captioned her announcement post, featuring the first look at the ring Shelton gave her.

Shelton shared the same photo on his Instagram, writing, “Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life. I love you. I heard a YES!”

The news comes four months after Us Weekly reported in June that Stefani wants to marry Shelton once the coronavirus pandemic ends. A source told the outlet that “COVID-19 has turned their world upside down, as it has with so many families. Gwen knows she is blessed and wants to have the wedding as soon as social distancing guidelines are lifted.”

The source added: “Gwen didn’t wait this long to get married just to have her family watch on Zoom.”

Us Weekly additionally reported that Shelton and Stefani will likely wed in Oklahoma, at Shelton’s ranch there. “There will be a few dozen of their closest friends and family, but Gwen doesn’t see the need for anything huge in terms of numbers,” a source said.

In July this year, Shelton released a song about his time with Stefani in quarantine, called “Happy Anywhere.”

Shelton explained the song’s inspiration during an interview with Storme Warren on his SiriusXM The Storme Warren Show. “You wake up and look at the news and you’re starting to realize that this quarantine is not working out too well for a lot of people who are finding out they didn’t, they don’t like being around each other as much as they thought they did, which is terrible,” Shelton started. “She and I have experienced the opposite, you know, and we’ve been having a blast. And I think it’s because, we’ve literally, since our early, early twenties, both of us, kind of been, you know… [had] our careers around. And obviously, none of us like these circumstances, but I’d be lying if I said that I’m not having a blast being stuck at home for this long because I’ve just never gotten to do it before you know, since I’ve owned a home, I’ve never been able to be there more than two weeks max at a time. So, this has been an eye opener. I told my manager, I said ‘man you might have a hard time getting me to go back on the road again actually.’”
