Watch Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig Have the Ultimate Hero-Villain Fight in This Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

Culture

Back in 2019, we thought the coming year would look a lot different than it has. 2020 looks like canceled plans, lost vacations, virtual meetings, and lots of time on the couch. 2020 doesn’t look like movie premieres, large crowds clamoring to see a midnight screening, and the summer release of Wonder Woman 1984. The Patty Jenkins sequel was pushed from its original June 5 release date three times, and now will come out on October 4.

On Saturday, Warner Bros. released the newest trailer for the film starring Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig, and it features an epic fight scene. Gadot plays Wonder Woman, a.k.a. Diana Prince, who’s now living in 1984 (somehow, she is still able to make the outrageous looks of the 1980s completely enviable). Wiig plays the new villain, Barbara Minerva (Cheetah).

In this trailer, we see Wiig as Cheetah, going at it with Gadot as Wonder Woman. Even if you don’t like an action movie, there’s something about two strong female leads commanding an entire superhero film. Yes. Please.

Chris Pine is back as Steve Trevor, despite the fact that Trevor died in the original film. Resurrected Steve Trevor seems to be as confused as the rest of us about the fashion of the 1980s. For example, when Diana makes him try on some parachute pants. After he comes out wearing an American-flag fanny pack, Diana tells him, “I think we can do better.” Enter: parachute pants.

“Does, does everybody parachute now?,” he wonders. Yeah, dude. No real answer for you there.
