Beyoncé Joins Megan Thee Stallion on the “Savage Remix”

When Megan Thee Stallion released her EP Suga in February, the album’s breakout hit “Savage” immediately received the TikTok stamp of approval thanks to dancer Keara Wilson’s viral routine. But no co-sign is bigger than the one Megan just got from fellow Houstonian Beyoncé. The two powerhouses dropped their “Savage Remix” today, just hours after a snippet of Beyoncé rapping over the “Savage” beat started making the rounds on Twitter.

“I’m literally crying 😭 being from HOUSTON MF TEXAS this shit means EVERYTHING to me,” Megan wrote to accompany the final product on Instagram. “SAVAGE REMIX FT THE QUEEN @BEYONCE OUT NOW!”

On the new version, Megan switches up the original “Savage” lyrics, inserting a new verse as Beyoncé ad-libs over the chorus. Like the rap-sing she employed in the “Feeling Myself (Remix)” with Nicki Minaj and DJ Khaled’s “Top Off,” Queen Bey raps about her hometown, being a boss, and inheriting her “savage” qualities from “Miss Tina [Knowles].”

Toward the end of the song, Beyoncé loses the rap, returning to her usual heavenly vocals as she and Megan take turns singing and rapping on the track. All proceeds from the “Savage Remix” will benefit Bread of Life Houston’s COVID-19 relief efforts, to which Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD organization recently donated $6 million in partnership with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall.

And if you can’t get enough of Bey (as if), don’t miss her take on “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Disney’s Family Singalong earlier this month.
