Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody dated from 2003 to 2006, a relationship timeline you’ll remember if you were a teen during this time. The O.C. cast-mates’ partnership was very important news for fans of the show, and their breakup was devastating news to anyone who truly cared.

Bilson, who is now dating SNL alumnus Bill Hader, seems to know how hard some of her fans took her long-ago split with Brody. When InStyle posted a throwback photo of the two on its Instagram with the caption, #rachelbilson and #adambrody’s breakup basically ruined high school for all of us, Bilson had an apologetic response.

“IM SORRY!,” she wrote. “He fared really well!”

Bilson is referring to Brody’s relationship with Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester, with whom he shares a four-year-old daughter, Arlo Day Brody.

Bilson and Brody’s split was nearly 14 years ago, and it’s safe to say both are very fine about it now. Bilson started dating actor Hayden Christensen after the two met on the set of their 2008 movie, Jumper. They never married, but they do share a five-year-old daughter, Briar Rose, who was born in October 2014. The pair broke up in 2017.

“She’s full-time back in L.A. He’s in Toronto,” a source told Us Weekly in September of that year. “They’ve been on the outs for a couple of months. They are completely, officially done.”

According to E! News, Bilson and Hader, who made their red carpet debut at the Golden Globes earlier this year, are “still going strong.”

“They spent Valentine’s Day weekend in Orange County, California. It was a quick getaway, but time for the two of them to be together without any distractions,” a source told E!. “Rachel is very happy dating Bill and is excited about being with him.”
