Katy Perry sparked her own pregnancy rumor in the hours leading up to the release of her music video for her new single “Never Wore White.” And at midnight, Perry confirmed she’s expecting her first child with her fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Perry initially created speculation by showing an image of herself cradling what appears to be a baby bump in the teaser footage for her music video. It was one: At the end of the music video, she cradled it bare. And with the drop of the music video, she tweeted, “Let’s just say it’s gonna be a jam packed summer…”
People reported last February that Perry and Bloom definitely have an interest in having children together. A source said at the time that “Katy is slowing down her career this year. [She and Bloom] want to get married and start a family sooner rather than later.”
A Bloom source concurred, adding “they both want kids together and will prioritize this.”
The couple has not wed yet. The two were reported in December to be postponing their wedding “due to the location they want.”
Perry most recently talked about her wedding plans in an interview with Australia’s Stellar magazine published last week. She said she wasn’t stressing over it; the marriage is more important than the party. “I call myself a ‘bridechilla’ as opposed to a bridezilla,” Perry said. “Orlando and I are united with our approach. It’s not about the party, it’s about the coming together of people who will hold us accountable when things get really hard. Because it’s really great and then it’s really hard. Those are just the facts when you’re with someone who challenges you to be your best self.”
