Emilia Clarke Is Clinique’s First-Ever Global Ambassador

Beauty

Mother of Dragons, The Unburnt, Breaker of Chains, and now Ambassador of Clinique! Emilia Clarke’s reign as queen in Game of Thrones is officially over but the actress has used her free time to explore uncharted territory, be it her cheeky rom-com Last Christmas or landing her first beauty campaign as Clinique’s first-ever global ambassador.

“We didn’t go with a model, we went with somebody with a human personality,” Elizabeth Nolan, senior vice president, global creative director at Clinique, told WWD. “She’s got such a human, emotional, real authenticity to her. She’s funny, she’s honest, she hasn’t shied away from being herself. That sums up the Clinique consumer as well.”

Clarke will represent Clinique iD, the iconic brand’s personalized skincare range, which allows customers to tailor their moisturizer to a specific skin concern by choosing from a base and an active cartridge concentrate for $39 a pop. But her favorite product is the Moisturizing BB-Gel, which she loves for its “natural-looking, slight-tanned finish” that gives her a sunkissed glow even in London’s typically gloomy weather.

“The thing that I love about Clinique is that it has stood the test of time in a way that’s quite remarkable,” Clarke told Clinique brand president Jane Lauder in a promotional video posted to the site. “My mom knew about Clinique and knew it as being innovative, current, accessible—to have all of those things consistently and still feel modern is just really exciting.”
