Demi Lovato’s ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama announced his engagement to model Amanda Pacheco on his Instagram yesterday, after the two dated for eight months. Lovato and Valderrama dated for almost six years, ending their relationship officially in June 2016; the two remained friends after. E! got a little intel from a source about how Lovato feels about Valderrama proposing to another woman. It’s all good vibes.
The source said, “She’s happy for Wilmer if he’s happy. She always wants the best for him in life and is glad he has found love. They will always be friends and have a special place in each other’s hearts. But she also realized he wasn’t going to be her life partner and she’s known that for a while. She moved on from that and has been going in a different direction. She wishes him all the best though.”
In Lovato and Valderrama’s breakup statement, the two expressed gratitude for the connection they had and that it would continue on as a friendship.
“After almost six loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship,” the two wrote in the joint statement they posted on their social media accounts in 2016. “This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer and Demi.”
Lovato and Valderrama were last photographed getting lunch together in February 2018, where they sparked some hope among fans they could reconciled. Valderrama started dating Pacheco around late April 2019.
Lovato last dated Austin Wilson at the end of last year. The two ended their relationship one month into dating publicly, with a source telling People that “she’s concentrating on herself and her work right now, as well as focusing on her relationship with God. She’s excited for what this next chapter in 2020 will bring.”
