“We’ve got recipes! Tips! Videos! Answers to those burning hot Twitter questions! And a lot more…”
It’s no secret that Chrissy Teigen loves food. Aside from her family and roasting Donald Trump at every opportunity, it seems to be at the top of her list of favourite things. And now, two cookbooks, months of recipe tasting and a cookware line at Target later, she is the mastermind behind her very own website, Cravings By Chrissy Teigen.
Introducing the website in a video with John Legend and their two kids Luna and Miles, Teigen says, “I’ve been wanting to do a real website where it was a true community of people that love Cravings, love the cookbooks, love the cookware… just a place where you could see everything that is our family. We wanted to share everything in one little spot for you guys.”
“Don’t worry, I made sure everything is pretty but not too perfect (because let’s be honest sometimes tasty = messy!!),” reads the website’s home page. In one video for Strawberry Shortcake, Teigen drops and breaks a jar of sugar before dissolving into a fit of laughter. So yep, expect plenty of her trademark authenticity and sense of humour.
In addition to recipe tutorials, the site offers in-depth travel/cooking videos as well as many behind-the-scenes peeks into the lives of the Teigen/Legend family. “I want this to be the place you come to for cooking inspiration, for a restaurant recommendation from my travels (because I just knew that the pasta baby in my belly had a higher purpose), to confirm that Pepper really does hack a papaya straight into the bowl with Dexter-level precision, and really anything else you’ve been curious about.” There’s also a section called Hot Takes, which features a gallery of Teigen’s family photos along with this succinct explainer: “If someone were to hack my phone, this would be all the things they’d find.”
“We’ve got recipes! Tips! Videos! Answers to those burning hot Twitter questions! And a lot more…” the site promises. Videos already up on the site include ‘Meatballs with John,’ ‘Truffle Hunting in Tuscany’ and ‘Chrissy’s Favourite Cookbooks.’ There’s also a slew of recipes—from carb-free Celery Root Lasagna to 3-Cheese Lobster Artichoke Dip to Buttery Adobo Chicken—as well as an ‘Ask’ page that corrals Teigen’s replies to cooking questions submitted by readers. The questions so far range from where she and Legend like to go on date nights in LA to what her pantry must-haves are to how to get your hands rid of the smell of garlic. Unsurprisingly, the website crashed within hours of its launch. Not to worry though. Chrissy’s on it.
