Selena Gomez took a clear stand for her ex Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey Baldwin last night during an Instagram Live, amid the backlash from Selena Gomez fans that Baldwin was receiving for posting a screenshot of herself listening to Summer Walker’s “I’ll Kill You” minutes after Gomez’s first breakup track, “Lose You to Love Me,” came out on Wednesday.
Fans saw it as a threat to Gomez. Baldwin later clarified in a since-deleted Instagram comment that her post had nothing to do with Gomez. “Please stop with this nonsense,” Baldwin wrote. “There is no ‘response.’ This is complete BS.”
Not all of them stopped, but now Gomez has asked them to. She told fans that “I am grateful for the response that the song is getting. I’m so grateful. However, I do not stand for women tearing women down. And I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please. Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. And just please, from me, know that that’s not my heart. My heart is only to release things that I feel that are me and that I’m proud of. And that’s all that I’ll say, yeah.”
She continued later, “Again, please be kind. Please, please, please be kind. I don’t like seeing people being disrespectful or rude to other people, so please don’t do that.”
Baldwin has publicly shown support for Gomez more recently. She liked two Instagrams in the past couple weeks that had Gomez in it.
