Robert Pattinson’s Batman has found his Catwoman. On Monday, Warner Bros. confirmed news that Zoe Kravitz will take on the role of Selina Kyle in The Batman. Her casting comes nearly five months after Variety reported Pattinson would be the next caped crusader. The film is slated for release on June 25, 2021.

When the actor was announced to take over from Ben Affleck, who played the role last in 2017’s Justice League, director Matt Reeves shared a gif of the actor along with bat emojis. He similarly confirmed Kravitz’s casting on Twitter.

Kravitz actually has some experience in her new role, which has been played in other iterations by Anne Hathaway in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, Halle Berry in 2004’s Catwoman, and Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s Batman Returns. After all, Kravitz voiced the role of Catwoman in the 2017 animated film, The Lego Batman Movie.

Sophie Turner was one of the first to weigh in on the news, excitedly tweeting, “Fuck yesssss.”

Although Kravitz has yet to comment on the news, Pattinson described stepping into the Batsuit for the first time as a “transformative” experience in an interview with Esquire. “It’s kind of insane,” he told the magazine. “I was so far away from ever thinking it was a realistic prospect. I literally do not understand how I’ve got it, at all.”

Filming on the movie, which is also rumored to co-star Jonah Hill and Jeffrey Wright, will begin in the U.K. in January.
