Bella Hadid Has Gone Back to Her Dark Roots

Well, it’s officially fall, and nothing has made that more clear than Bella Hadid’s hair. The model, who went blonde during the summer, has gone back to her signature dark brown hair during Paris Fashion Week. Hadid has been busy walking in many shows in the city, including Balenciaga, Haider Ackermann, Vivienne Westwood, and Off-White.

Bella’s foray into a lighter hue was short-lived. She debuted her blonde hair back in March and continued to get lighter throughout the summer.

“Back to dirty blonde, back to my roots,” she wrote on Instagram showing off her new look. “Per @mertalas wishes.”

The naturally blonde model has been dying her hair since she was a teenager. In a 2016 interview with Glamour, she discussed her penchant for hair experimentation.

“I didn’t really dye my hair to separate myself from Gigi,” she said. “I started dyeing my hair when I was 14. I dyed it black and blue, I wore eyeliner—I was a punk kid. I might want to go blonde eventually!”

The following year she talked about going dark for the first time in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“Honestly, I just needed a change in my life. I think when you dye and cut your hair it takes away a lot of past resolutions. When I was 13, I dyed my hair dark and cut it and I felt like myself. Then when I was 15, I had a bob and dyed it blue and black and had side-bangs. I really just wanted to go back to when I was 15 and relive that.”

It’s unclear why she went back to her teenage roots, but Bella Hadid as a brunette just feels…right.
